Top advices : Give Yaks and Sherpa’s the right of way at all times. When a yak train comes, move to the mountainside to get out of the way. You don’t want to be nudged off a cliff by a yak. Sherpa’s and porters work hard on Everest, they are constantly taking supplies up and down the mountain. Help make their life easier by staying out of their way.
Remember, you are on Holidays, Enjoy Yourself! The most important thing to remember is that you are on vacation, relax, have an open mind, and enjoy yourself! There is always a lot of spare time when on a trekking trip like Everest Base Camp. You generally walk anywhere from 4-6 hours a day, with the exception of a few longer days, and therefore have plenty of time when you arrive in the tea houses to relax, rest, and have a laugh with your fellow trekkers. It is important to have this time throughout your journey as they help to keep you positive and relaxed, instead of nervous and tense. You also have to keep in mind that you are entering a very different environment than you may be used to when going to Nepal. Things may not be done in the same manner as you may be used to at home, by no means does this imply that things are done wrong there, however they are just different. You must always keep an open mind and remember the fact that there will be cultural differences along the way and to respect those who are there to help us reach our goals!
180retreats is launching a trekking expedition on the Everest in April 2019, read more on Everest Retreats. On our first full day of retreat, well head to see the sights with one of our Nepalese guides. Well visit the worlds largest Hindu temple at Pashupatinath Temple where we have the opportunity to witness the ceremony of lifes passing and together we will honor life reverently. Well then head to the largest Buddhist shrine, Boudhanath where well explore and eat a delicious rooftop lunch with spectacular views. After ample time, well head to Swayambhunath also known as The Monkey Temple.
We recommend : Bring cash USD and Rupees. There are no ATMs in Lukla or Namche Bazaar. Exchange rates are also very dismal so bring rupees with you at least $200 worth.
Altitude Headaches A headache can be one of the first signs of altitude problems. Small headaches are common and should not stop you from trekking or worry you. However, it is worth mentioning to your guide and by all means if your headache gets progressively worse or you have other signs of altitude sickness its time to stop ascending or even head down. Altitude Sickness if allowed to progress is serious. If you need to arrange extra days on the mountain we can normally arrange that .
Tourism in Sri Lanka has been growing ever since the end of the civil war in 2009. The island country is quite beautiful despite the fact that its economy is not among the best in the world. The beauty of the country can largely be attributed to the natural lifestyles that the people have adopted, which includes covering the hills with large tea gardens.
However, for tourists who are willing to shed a few extra dollar bills from their pockets, there is an option to stay in high-end luxury hotels as well. This means that Sri Lanka has something to offer for all types of tourists, whether indoors or outdoors. From open tea plantations and high waterfalls to spas and pools, you will find everything in Sri Lanka. (E visa to Sri Lanka for US Citizens)

I applied for etourist visa for india online @ https:/tvoa.html. I didn’t have any issues with the application or payment process. I received approval the next day after submitting. My friend had issues submitting his application and decided to go to the Indian consulate in San Francisco, CA. They told him all applications for visa to India have to be done through the consulate and the etourist visa was unreliable. Not sure what to think, but I’ll stick with etourist visa and bring all the visa approval emails I received with me when I travel next week. The consulate took my friends passport and said they’ll mail it back to him in 5-7 days.

We simply handed them over along with our passports and within about 2 or 3 mins were waved through. Have a great trip!
Pokhara, at the base of the foothills, is 200 kilometers west of Kathmandu and surrounded by some of the highest mountains in the world – Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, and Annapurna I. For many trekkers, Pokhara is the gateway to the Himalayas. It is the starting point for treks to Jomsom and the Annapurna region. But visitors will enjoy Pokhara and the beautiful scenery even if they are not planning on heading off on a hike. By population, it is the second largest town in Nepal after Kathmandu but still does not feel like a big city. People coming from the Kathmandu Valley notice the much cleaner air and pleasant climate almost immediately. Lake Phewa, with its cluster of lakeside hotels, restaurants, and shops, is ideal for those looking for relaxation and for day excursions.
Top tips : Bring your own tea. Tea is very expensive on Everest and it is cheaper to buy hot water and use your own tea bags. Bring a variety of teas as well for more enjoyment.
Get the Right Gear. There are many parts of your gear that are essential for your trek into Everest Base Camp, and I am not going to go through every piece of gear you need for the trip. Click on the link and view our packing video. I am just going to highlight some of the specific pieces that I found to be essential. First of all, your feet are one of the most important parts of the body to take care of when trekking. Never skimp on footwear when you are going to be walking multiple hours a day, for twelve days in a row; your feet need to be comfortable and dry all the time. Buy a good, sturdy, waterproof pair of trekking boots and make sure that you break them in before you leave for Nepal. Number two, buy yourself a good down jacket, remember a good down jacket needs more down. The fill of the jacket is only the quality of the down. Don’t base your purchase on the fill of the jacket. Remember that every brand and style is different and if you are questioning your down coat, make sure to ask the advice of a professional before the trip as this piece of gear can be essential during the cold nights and mornings on the mountain. Usually the tea houses are quite cold higher up the trail and I found that I wore my down jacket every night during dinner. More info on Everest base camp trek.
Top advices : Buy your gear in Kathmandu Trekking poles, hats, gloves, socks, down jackets, sleeping bags etc. Everything is cheap cheap cheap. There are fake, good quality North Face, Mountain Hardwear, and Marmot clothing. There are also authentic stores for proper mountaineering equipment. Mountain Hardware and North Face authentic store that offers great deals. Everything you could possibly need to climb to Everest Base Camp is available in Nepal. If you need it or forgot it, you can get it.
Prepare for Cold and Rain – If it’s sunny you might be surprised at how warm it can get during the day. Most trekkers wear t-shirts and shorts for the first few days while the elevation is still low. When the sunsets the temperatures drop quick. Wear a warm hat while sleeping and take a Nalgene bottle filled with hot water and keep it in your sleeping bag to stay warm. Even if it looks like a sunny day make sure to carry a poncho in your day pack.

Sri Lanka (formerly Ceylon) is an island nation south of India in the Indian Ocean. Its diverse landscapes range from rainforest and arid plains to highlands and sandy beaches. Its famed for its ancient Buddhist ruins, including the 5th-century citadel Sigiriya, with its palace and frescoes. The city of Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka’s ancient capital, has many ruins dating back more than 2,000 years.
When it comes to wildlife tours, Sri Lanka is most famous for majestic Asian elephant and leopards, (one of the five “big cats”). Sri Lanka holds the world record for highest leopard density in the world, here leopard are super large since they are the highest ranking formidable predators in Sri Lanka, they have evolved more like a jaguar with more muscular, more powerful may be even more powerful than a jaguar, they roam National parks proudly with no idea of fear whatsoever. Not to mention Sri Lanka has the highest density of elephants in Asia. Also World largest elephant gathering happens here in Sri Lanka.
Sri Lank attractions include :
Head towards the golden beaches of the south coast of the island to witness yet another UNESCO World Heritage site: the Galle Dutch Fort, built by the Portuguese and fortified by the Dutch. Today, with charming villas, ancient churches and cobblestoned streets, the fort still retains much of its quaint colonial aura and enchants anyone who walks upon its ramparts overlooking a deep blue sea.
Located in Kandy, Sri Lankas ancient hill capital, the Temple of the Tooth is considered to be the very heart of the nation. Wars had been fought for the possession of the Sacred Tooth Relic as its believed that whoever holds the Sacred Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha holds the power and the right to rule the country. Being a predominantly Buddhist country, the Temple of the Tooth is the most sacred place of worship for Buddhists in Sri Lanka. Visit between July and August to witness the spectacular Festival of the Tooth (Kandy Perahera), a vibrant religious procession complete with beautifully adorned elephants, drummers, fire eaters, energetic dancers and stilt walkers.
The main attraction is Wilpattu National Park, i visited it with help from www.go4safari.com, a travel experts agency specialized in Sri Lanka tours,
Wilpattu National Park is a park located on the island of Sri Lanka. The unique feature of this park is the existence of “Willus” – Natural, sand-rimmed water basins or depressions that fill with rainwater. Located in the Northwest coast lowland dry zone of Sri Lanka.
WILPATTU NATIONAL PARK is located 26 km north of Puttalam (approximately 180 km north of Colombo) spanning from the northwest coast inland towards the ancient capital of Anuradhapura (50 km to the east of the park). Covering an impressive 425 sq miles, the park is Sri Lanka ‘s largest, and having reopened in March, 2010 it is just a matter of time before it becomes a popular eco-tourism destination. Wilpattu is a fairly thick dry zone jungle interspersed with a number of flood plain lakes banked with delicate white sands. It boasts an impressive variety of flora in huge expanses of forest, and varied wildlife, including deer, elephants, wild boar, sloth bears and leopards.
Why is Greece so special?
What makes the region so special?
With 6,000 islands, 4,000 years of history, great hospitality and scrumptious food. Only in Greece! That’s why Greece is a paradise for yacht owners, and if you are a yach owner you also need a Greece catamaran yacht charter.
A Feast for the Senses
Mediterranean cuisine is at its best in this region. Every part of Greece has its own specialty of traditional dishes. The land, the land and the crafty hands of the local inhabitants produce an unique combination of flavors you will never forget. A traditional meal at a taverna consists of meze. Meze consists of small plates similar to the Spanish tapas. Here youll receive plate, after plate of grilled veggies, salads, tzatziki, saganaki, feta, lamb and a variety of seafood. While in Greece you should eat and enjoy as many great local Greek products as you can. Here the yogurt is among some of the finest you will ever taste and Greece boasts a great variety of local liquors and Greek wines. No proper Greek meal is complete without bottles of Ouzo or Tsikoudia, whatever the local spirit is. You can shoot it or mix it with water giving it a cloudy white appearance. Yamas! meaning to our health is the way to cheers.
Greece Yacht Charter
The best way to see Greece is with your own chartered yacht. The magic of a yacht is that it is an island in itself and you can see things that are impossible to visit otherwise. There are many places in Greece that are not accessible by road or by any other means than by yacht, and these are the most magical places that a person can visit.
Which areas should I visit on a yacht?
There are just so many islands and each one has its own character. The Cyclades group of islands is the popular yachting area because they have everything there. The Cyclades comprise about 220 islands, the major ones being Delos, Mykonos, Naxos, Paros and Santorni. Mykonos is of course a famous island popular for it’s nightlife and entertainment. During August the Ionian group of Islands is less windy with calmer seas so it is more relaxed area. Consisting of seven islands with the most populat known as Corfu, Paxos, Lefkas and Cythera.
Instead of mooring in a particular marina, you can sail to a secluded cove around the corner where you can moor in all privacy. Then you wake in the morning to discover an unbelievable bay that is completely unique and unspoilt, ready for you to explore.
The most superyachts with charter rates above 200,000 per week are based in Athens which is one reason why Greece is the most popular yacht charter destination in the world.
It is impossible in a lifetime to see everything in Greece. Therefore experience the life on an island and explore it in its entirety as every island will offer an unique experience to the visitor.
Hospitality
The Greek concept of hospitality, filoxenia , is deeply rooted in rituals that are expressions of an authentic relationship between guest, i.e., stranger, and host based on generosity, courtesy, and friendship. To the Greeks, moreover, the notion of xenia frames a form of ritualized friendship consisting of rules of behavior associated with respect, protection, and guidance that must not be violated. For instance, respect between host and guest, especially genuine displays of honor by the host at receiving the guest, is a longstanding staple of Greek hospitality. The true meaning of Greek hospitality, moreover, involves not only equalizing a stranger/guest with the host, but also making the her/him feel protected and taken care of, and at the end of the hosting encounter, even providing guidance to the next destination.
Geography
Greek geography is as varied as you might imagine. From brilliant white roofs cut against wonderful ravishing blue skies to astonishing sunsets over crystal clear azure waters. The Greeks were historically a sea-faring nation, largely because of the numerous deep water bays in the Greek archipelago that could harbor their ships. These small bays make for a wonderful place to go for a swim or snorkeling where youre always be rewarded with tranquility. The only way to visit these secluded bays is with a private yacht charter.
Greece is filled with many archaeological sites, ancient ruins and buildings that easily date back to the turn of the century. Many of these are very well protected and restored and are a great tourist attraction. The Greeks are very proud of their remarkable history. After all, they gave us modern philosophy and democracy.
Affordability
Accommodation prices are affordable and you will always get value for money. Whether you are travelling in luxury or looking for budget options, you can find it all in Greece. Life is more affordable in Greece than other European countries and tourists can enjoy all the pleasure of life at affordable prices.
Greece is one of the most popular world travelling destinations and for good reason!
