Tamara de las Tormentas: The artist in the center of the Storm

She has been awarded with the Auguste Rodin prize, hosted a tv show and recently one of her works, a 70 thousand usd painting, was stolen from a Pasadena private collection. In this interview the Chilean artist set in Concepcion, answers many questions.

How do you feel that thieves are stealing your art? I don’t really know how to feel, I probably shouldn’t say it, but I feel kind of flattered. It’s nice to see people enjoying your art. Anyway it’s nicer to see people paying it. But it wasn’t your money, the painting was sold to a collector. Yes, it’s always surprising to see how the prices go up and up. When I sold it, the painting wasn’t that expensive, and that was only around two years ago.

What’s up with your name? Ha! People are always wondering about that, De las Tormentas (of the Storm) it’s my actual last name, not a pseudonym. My daughter, who is a filmmaker, enjoys making puns with it, she was the one who named our tv show Pintando en la Tormenta (Painting in the Storm), and she also happens to be the director. You seem to be very close to your family? Yes, very close to them all, I also have an excellent relationship with my son in law. Really? Yes, people don’t believe us, but he is like a son to me, I get him cookies, I cook his favorite meals. For instance, he has written a series of child short stories, and I have illustrated them. We are super close.

You seem like a happy person, what do you want to communicate with your art? I want to communicate emotions, personal thoughts, ideas I explore on my daily life. I want to share the beauty that’s around us.

She also said that, with abstract painting, she can make emotional and personal statements, “many times people say that abstract art is nothing, but I believe in my experience and that the evoked feelings are transmitted clearly, there are several of my paintings in that I sought to communicate an emotion in the first look, and in a second look a conflicting emotion, and spectators rea not aware of this intention, are completely capable of discovering these emotions, ” she added.



Despite being away from the spotlights and concentrating on her art, during this year, Tamara wants to carry out some activities to spread her extensive artistic work. “I decided to make some changes, I realized that, in my own land, my art is not known, so I will do some exhibitions, we are studying together with the Rural Village Corporation and the Conception of Art, to make an exhibition of my works in the Windsor Room, I think it is an important step to work the closeness and knowledge with the community, ”he said. The violin comes in fractional sizes 1/64 to 3/4 and of course the 4/4 size violin.

Violin parts : Bridge – The violin bridge holds up the strings. It is shaped in an arch to make it possible to play on one string at a time. Of all the parts of the violin this is the most delicate. A Violin Luthier must carve the bridge feet to fit the top of the violin. Against popular belief the violin bridge is actually NOT glued to the top of the violin but help in place by the strings. Screw – The violin bow adjusting screw is used to tighten and loosen the bow. Keep the bow hairs loose when not being used to play. And only tighten the hairs so that there is a slight tension and the distance between the hairs and the stick in the middle is not wider than at the tip and frog. When holding the violin bow with the tip pointing to your left and the hairs facing the floor, turn the violin bow adjusting scew away from you to tighten the violin bow and toward you to loosen the violin Bow. You can also look directly at the end of the screw and turn righty, tightey, lefty, loosey.

I went on a total fox jag a while back. I just love their forms and inquisitive natures. This is Attention to De-tail, an elegant piece filled with great lines. My goal here was to create a lyrical design that celebrated the grace of foxes. This quiet moment allows me to explore the fox form in repose, instead of in action. There is no rushing here; we are allowing the fox to truly give attention to every detail. This piece exhibits all the hallmarks of my work, such as curves transitioning into planes, highlighted dimensional lines, complex and rich patinas, and a bit of complementary texture. Even though this fox is in repose, the graceful line from the tip of the tail to the nose is reminiscent of the movement of my dance sculptures. And as with another of my fox pieces, EnWrapture, I continue to explore the juxtaposition of texture with smooth surface. Back in 1900, Erwin Perzy I was working in Vienna as a fine instruments mechanic when a surgeon came to him with a problem. Although the surgeon had electric light bulbs installed in his operating theater, the newly invented product didn’t cast great light. He wanted to know if Perzy could improve on the dim bulbs and make them brighter. So he got to work. Let’s begin with a brief history of bobbleheads. 2015: A 1961-62 New York Yankees Oversized (14″) Promotional Nodder sold at auction by for $59,750. It was one of only two known in existence. According to John Brey of “The Nodder Exchange,” this was “the most desirable nodder in the hobby, bar none.” It’s a truth that endures regardless of your personal team affiliation, and it’s likely due to the fact that the Bronx Bombers claimed the World Championship during both potential years of production that the uniform was chosen. While five or fewer promotional nodders exist for each of the NFL teams of the era, only the Yankees model is believed to have been produced to represent our National Pastime. And today, just two of those are known to survive.

How are bobbleheads made? We begin with the head of the bobble head doll. The body is made of hollow plastic that is covered by felt cloth. On the head, a metal clasp is connected to the downward portion of the head to connect into the bobble head dog’s body. At the far end of the body is a bolt that acts as a weight for the head. When attached to the body, this allows for the bobble head to sway and bob around. Without the weighed bolt at the end, the bobble head would simply rise to the top of the body in a fixed position. Next up is the body of the bobble head doll. The body, which in this case is about 4″ (10.16cm) in length, is made of a hollow core like the head, but the mold is not enclosed in order to allow space for the head piece to attach to the body. To attach to the body, a small metal anchor is attached inside the upper portion of the body to allow the clasp from the head to rest in the center of the anchor. When the head is attached to the body, the bobble head bobs and glides with ease. The movement can be endless as long as the bobble head doll is in contact with motion to jostle the parts enough to cause movement.

In June 2012, the TBS talk show ‘Conan’ went to film in Chicago and produced one of the largest bobble head dolls ever documented. The Conan O’Brien Bobble Head stood at 16 feet tall!
